Amazing Grace Working On The Chain Gang
71King Micky Is Prince Albert In The Can
Thank You Lord.
Thank You for slowing it all down to slow-motion.
If ever I wonder...
You...You...You
slow it down.
I can see it all.
I can see it all so clear.
Thank you for this Amazing Grace.
Oh Lord! I sit and listen to those Alabama boys sing Your song as only they can.
I know that so many have been flooded and overwhelmed.
There's a darkness that takes the souls of the beaten.
There are so many who refuse to turn on their own light.
And they trip and fall and take others with them.
But!
Thank You Lord!
People never know what a small part of Your plan can be.
I never saw this last Amazing Grace of Yours coming.
Thank You Lord.
Somebody always puts me in my place.
Thank You for being that SomeBody God.
"AMAZING GRACE": The Blind Boys of Alabama
Thank You for showing me who my people are.
It's so hard to see some times.
These are my people Lord.
My people are not the proud women who remove their bonnets and shake their pride in front of men.
The men are not the best dressed with their necks all tied up with a business tie.
My Man might have a chain around his neck.
He might be chained to my Brother.
He might be chained to me.
I remember standing for my Sister Lord.
I remember others being shy.
Thank You Lord for telling me to "Get UP!".
Thank you Lord.
Oh God! Thank you Lord, for Your people who are not chosen for the adoration of a society gone mad. These are my people Lord.
It's such a loss to the oppressors and the oppressed.
So many people are considered non-people.
Castaways.
Many cannot walk a straight path as they are not given one.
Sam Cooke "Chain Gang"
Thank you God!
I never knew why I was arrested and put on that Chain Gang!
I was confused. It opened my eyes.
I was never so confused again.
Thank you Lord for giving me truth that is etched into my soul
Beyond quotes, scriptures, religious lore You have spoken to me, without a doubt!
You have given me a vision that is beyond what the Pharisees can see.
I defeat my nightmares by chase and pursuit of the evil.
But thank you for the vision.
Be still and know.
My rocking chair rocks on my front porch with the tree on the left.
It's a clear and sunny day as the car slowly drives by.
We have never known one another.
The driver shouts that I'm ugly Lord.
This man curses me and calls me ignorant.
He accuses me of inaction and unknowing and hints at cowardice.
Thank You Lord for allowing me to know that You made me exactly as You needed me.
You gave me all the experience that I ever needed.
You gave me a wealth of knowledge that most men and women of all faiths can never know as they blind their own eyes.
Thank you Lord for my being able to stand up and testify to truth!
Now for all the people in the world who aren't as beautiful as Roger is, God loves you anyway. God said beauty is skin deep. God said that in a hundred years, fifty, maybe weeks, we all might look more alike. God said "BLESS YOU WHO ARE NOT CONSIDERED BEAUTIFUL BY ROGER".
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL IN GOD'S SIGHT.
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL IN GOD'S SIGHT.
THANK YOU GOD FOR MAKING MICKY DEE AS I AM. THANK YOU FOR THE FORTY FIVE DAYS ON THE CHAIN GANG FOR A CRIME I DIDN'T DO. HAVING GRAINS OF MARIJUANA IN A CAN OF PRINCE ALBERT TOBACCO.
DEAR GOD! I NEVER KNEW WHY I SPENT THAT TIME ON THE CHAIN GANG FOR A CRIME OF GRAINS OF MARIJUANA IN A CAN OF PRINCE ALBERT TOBACCO. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY PLACE IS WITH THE FALSELY ACCUSED. I KNOW MY PLACE GOD. GOD BLESS YOU GOD. GOD THANK YOU FOR DENYING ME JOBS BECAUSE OF THE LENGTH OF MY HAIR AND MY BEARD.
THANK YOU GOD FOR THAT TRUCK DRIVEN BY LARRY DEAN PRICE IN SPARTANBURG WHO LIED IN COURT. THANK YOU GOD FOR THOSE BLACK MEN ON THE CORNER WHO SAW IT ALL BUT WERE CLASSIFIED AS NON-REPUTABLE BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK MEN STANDING ON THE CORNER. THANK YOU FOR GIVING THE DOCTORS AND LAWYERS $9,000 AND ME ONLY $8,000 AND A RUINED BODY. I THANK YOU GOD THAT I CAN FEEL PAIN EVERY DAY AND BE REMINDED OF SUFFERING OF OTHERS EVERY DAY.
THANK YOU GOD FOR MY NECK WITH THE BAD DISK, THE SHOULDER THAT IS GONE, THE BACK. THANK YOU GOD FOR THE NUMBNESS IN MY RIGHT LEG. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY HEADACHES.
THANK YOU FOR LIMITING MY INTELLIGENCE AS ROGER SAYS. THANK YOU FOR MY SIMPLICITY. YES, ROGER, I AM DUMB.
THANK YOU FOR MY LONELINESS GOD. I CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH LONELY PEOPLE. THAT'S WHY I CAME TO THIS HUB. I WANTED TO SHOW POLLY SOME LOVE.
THANK YOU SO MUCH LORD FOR ROGER TO POINT OUT MY FAULTS. THANK YOU LORD FOR MY SMALL STATURE, MY FRAIL BODY. THANK YOU LORD FOR ALLOWING ME TO COMPETE WITH SOME OF THE STRONGEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. THANK YOU GOD FOR EVERY LOSS I HAVE SUFFERED. BECAUSE I AM HERE. MY LIGHT IS TURNED ON. WHETHER I AM UGLY OR NOT DOESN'T MATTER TO YOU GOD BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME ANYWAY.
THANK YOU LORD FOR YOUR SON. THANK YOU GOD FOR YOUR GOLDEN RULE. I WILL TRY TO LOVE MY NEIGHBOR AS MYSELF. I WILL TURN MY OTHER CHEEK LORD. I WILL TURN IT AGAIN LORD. I WILL TURN MY CHEEK UNTIL YOU SAY NO MORE GOD. AND YES GOD I WILL GIVE MY GOD WHAT MY GOD WANTS., IF ROGER INSISTS ON BEATING ME UP - SO BE IT. IF ROGER KILLS ME - SO BE IT. I WILL MEET IN ANY ARENA AFTER THE PUSH TOO FAR -BECAUSE YOU WANT IT GOD. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THESE ATTACKERS ARE GOD - IT DOESN'T MATTER. YOU KNOW.
OH YES LORD, THANK YOU FOR CONVINCING ME TO JOIN THE MARINE CORPS. YES SIR GOD! SEMPER FI!
Thank you again Lord as the dust settled my opponents slapped themselves on the backs and perhaps smoked a cigarette at the coupe they had mastermined. They laughed at their brilliance at being able to trip me up and expose my "secrets".
One had pretended to support me, pretending to enjoy my words as they were read.
But if they were ever read, they would have read my words before.
These very words were spoken at a high-school class days before.
These words were written in my worldly diary a year ago.
Trip me up?
Micky Dee is the most visible man in this world of hubs!
Trip me up indeed.
I may be simple. I'll be the court jester.
What does that make these fools?
Laziness. Slothfulness. Words of hate to draw a crowd.
My BOOK tells me to never use the term fool in a description of another.
But when that fool has made "itself" a fool so obvious, "it's" a fool.
When one refuses to turn on their own light when able and refuses, that "one" can without doubt be a fool.
So dance! Burn incense and worship your Mammon.
The rocking chair rocked.
You whisked me away.
Why the train Lord?
That was so cool Lord!
You put me in in my place.
I like the caboose Lord.
I love a red caboose.
You know that.
That was better than Back to the Future!
The Chain Gang - Our Gated Community
I went to my gated community.
It’s the community of impunity.
We’re brought together,
With chains and leather.
We have a guard at the gate.
This is to keep out the riffraff.
Too often folks try to relate,
And you know it makes me laugh.
They don’t have the credentials,
As many have applied,
They can’t meet the essentials.
And their admission is denied.
Some have their fun,
Stealing a widow’s pension fund.
They always get away,
And we’re always on the run.
He wore wide stripes,
As he did his prison time.
He was guilty of nothing,
So they made up a crime.
The State man saw,
Grains of grass in can,
This was x-ray vision,
Maybe as good as Superman.
This was full,
Of shocks and awes,
But he now saw the beasts,
Walking on their paws.
Is it to embarrass?
Demean and control,
Stun, discredit.
Steal a soul?
One size almost fits all.
They have a pair for you,
If it’s your name that they might call.
When your time is due.
Here's your suit.
It's just your style.
Those wide "pinstripes",
Drive the ladies wild.
Let’s sing a morning song,
To lighten up the load,
And cut the thorns back,
On the Man’s dirt road.
Now while you’re giving,
Those bushes 40 whacks.
Watch how you swing,
That pretty and sharp bush axe.
We can all get bit,
By a hornet's nest you hit.
So don't be a bush-axe fool,
Or you'll go to bush-axe school.
Being all chained up,
To each other’s ankles and such,
Has all of us men,
Sharin’ quite a bit too much.
Once you're on "the Gang"
Your "Beechnut" has no pot.
The Man continues to pretend,
To be everything he's not.
The “rollers” took Prince Albert,
And put him in the can,
They took their own giggle weed,
And planted it on the man.
A lot of the “shades”,
Try to hide their game,
But the results tell it all,
And it always is the same.
They hide behind,
Their eyes of hate,
As they torture some of God's people,
Behind a prison gate.
The lawmen took Prince Albert,
From this man.
Framed him for grains of pot,
And put the man in the can.
They called him Prince Albert,
Because of a frame-up by the Man.
They took some Marijuana,
And put it in his can.
True it was sad,
Being shackled is so tragic.
Even so,
The prisoners had some magic.
The trusty had a key,
That opened every door,
The bars popped out of the kitchen,
And you could drop down to the floor.
With a point,
And few words spoken,
You knew exactly where,
The prison fence was broken.
Only one would wait,
On the dirt road for this man,
She was the only girl,
To love Prince Albert in the Can.
Micky Dee
God bless you Kathy!
Today's Helpful Hint: How to Jump from ATrain!
If you should ever find yourself escaping from some predicament and find yourself on a train, the following tips may be useful:
Trains will slow, eventually, somewhere for some reason.
If you're familiar with the train's routine you can better plan your debarking.
Wait until the train slows sufficiently to reduce injury.
Face toward the front of the train.
The natural tendency is to do the opposite and jump facing and toward the rear.
Do not trust this instinct!
Face toward the front of the train.
The caboose should have nothing behind "it" and behind you.
Stand on the coupling for attaching other cars.
Facing the front of the train -
drop -
running forward!
Just start running while you're dropping!
Now- don't start jumping trains to see if you can do this.
This is just for that emergency situation.
Also- if you can plan far enough ahead- get a helmet too!
Now just one more thing- if you're carrying luggage -
drop the luggage just to the side before debarking!
Happy trails,
Prince Albert

Thank you Micky, for a wonderful hub with feelings. Thank you for sharing. Godspeed. creativeone59
yo this is a feeling Hub. Thank you Love for being who you are. Without that past, we would not be hearing the present. Your words carry the Truth for all to hear. Yep, It's wake up time and you making it all real clear! The music is uncanny! I love you Micky :D hugs :D
Another great hub from you, my uncle. Hi... to the people in the world....Let's hear what my uncle say. Peace to everyone. This hub show how spirituality of yours. Again...you amaze me with something beautiful come up from you mind and I believe this really come from God, without exception. Good work, my uncle. I hope God always lead you on the good way. Take care!

Micky when you think, you go so much deeper then others. You can feel what they feel, you walk right through that big gate so you can become part of that pain. Your passion for humanity is a gift, a gift you need, or MUST share with otherss. Touch feel and learn to fly...much love, darski
It is good to always know where our place is, or what is the truth about this world and people inside it. In so many times it is painful to see it but unless it is the truth. I know your heart, King Micky. Those who don't understand, it is their own lose.
Now that's how a gratitude list should be written!! There is no 'failure to communicate' at all!
Yeah, Micky-great reminders, I mean it.
Aye Mic, the actions of others are often hurtful and foolish, I hear you've read that it not be said another is a fool, they show actions of such but don't be fooled those actions are cold and calculated to draw you into a sin, crafty, devious, hurtful, many are they that a special path has been made with a special gate, Wide is the gate Wide is the path it leads to destruction, and many will travel by them, don't join them in the race of the lemmings. Much Peace and Love, 50
Empathy is a beautiful thing, the ability to place yourself in another persons shoes and then be able to walk the proverbial mile in them. Great hub, loved each video too. Great writing and deeply stirring, even for cynical BobbiRant. :0) Hitting each button and voting it up.
Oh, Micky, what can i say that iv,e not already said? I think politics got in the way of our communication and that,s so sad.I know that you have been dealt a bad hand and was treated unjustly, as were the black people, it makes me sick to think how bad people were treated. The day will come when we all will have to stand before God and answer for the unkindness to our fellow-man. I truly believe you have a gift of helping others by writing about the experiences you,ve been through. I pray for you Micky. I know you are in a lot of pain, physically and mentally. The past can eat you up, ask me, i know. I enjoyed the videos of the good old songs. You do a hub like no other. God Bless you Micky
This is awesome stuff, my brotherman! You are a wizard of compassion and empathy. I love it so much.
As you probably know Albert Camus is one of my favourite writers and he once wrote something along th lines of there are two kinds of people, the excutioners and the victims. To be human you have to stay, always, on the side of the victims. This Hub says it all so well.
Thank you and I feel really privileged to be your brotherman!
Love and peace
Tony
Mic, sweet Ruby has hit a straight up nail in her comment, God Bless her!50
I love you man - that's all. And I'll always have your back - Semper Fi do or die!
My main man Micky Dee, I read between the lines of this well thought out Hub. You wear your emotions for all hubbers to read and see and this is a fantastic hub. You are genuine and never let anyone try to knock you down.
I read all your threads in that heated hub of Polly's and I was disturbed by it. You were not attacking, but defending yourself. I am not political and I keep my religious views to myself.
My belief that all religions of the world reach out to the same God/Allah/ or whatever we want to call that Supreme being and we must have respect for each others beliefs.
There are extremists and radicals in most religions and it's up to man to sort those bad apples out of the barrel and stay focused on the Golden Rule of LOVE your fellow man and do unto others as you would like done unto yourself. Peace my friend, keep the faith your beautiful.
Thank,s Micky,
I feel so much better.
Love and Peace
I love the tips on how to jump from a moving train but I don't think I'm gonna try them this late in life.
Holy cow, Micky - you can really write and put it all together! Love your passion.
Mickey my man,
I feel like I've been to service and borne witness. You did testify ol' son.
I got no clue from your profile photo if you are black or white or some other hue from humanity's palette...don't care.
Back in the 60's in high school I wrote an essay saying that racial differences will lessen and be forgotten as multi-ethnic lovers join to create cafe au lait children.
Funny, 20 years later I married my wife who is half black, and we have 3 beautiful proud children.
This hub/essay/poem is powerful...rocks me back in my chair with a sigh. It reads like a new version of the book of Job.
If God won't offer His apologies please accept mine. You're a resilient son of a gun, and you deserve life treating you better from here on out.
If you cycle through Vermont again let me know so we can share our brotherhood and a frosty beverage.
CP
Man you said so much in here, and it's all from the heart!!! Kudos!
You know how to cover a subject and make us all think.Thank you for sharing your gift.
Micky Your heart is ringing with passion my friend! You are deep and involved and you took me to that place within the moment that leads me to a bigger place where my eyes are jarred open and my soul is humbly aware. The music is inviting the things that can make me feel the power of shame, but not such shame as to miss the things that have caused pain. I feel true emotion when I read this hub, thank you for a moment with what is too important not to see.

Micky - All I can say is you did it again, simply beautiful. God Bless you Brother Man
This one touched my very soul. Brought actual tears. I agree with some others when they said (paraphrasing) this was the best sermon ever! When you were thanking God, it brought back a memory of reading a book about a Bible smuggled into the barracks of a Nazi extermination camp. The fleas were so bad that the guards did not enter the barracks, and the people thanked God for that because it let them read and discuss the Bible in peace. THAT rivited my attention as did YOUR thanking God for the many reasons you did. Clergymen could take lessons from you as to what is really important! I hope to follow your Golden Rule pathway to heaven. Bless you Micky! Buttons UP if I can see through my tears.
Micky Dee, you’ve touched my heart with this one. While I was reading, I remembered the words of wise king Solomon - “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” (Ecc 9:11). I’m so glad you are who you are, and here on HubPages to open our eyes for truth we would not have been able to see if it was not through your hubs. Thanks for this and take care of yourself!
Oh yes brother, to imagine the souls who hung to Amazing Grace as they indured so much. May they all know peace now and may it be over flowing with love, joy and bliss. That's how I'll imagine it! Peace :)
Again you amaze me Micky Dee you've got a heart that's ten feet tall. We need more of you on this soulless plane and on these pages. Ride on my friend.
Another great hub Micky and thanks for sharing your thoughts. Our personal afflictions - so long as they don't kill us only serve to make us stronger and certainly your experiences have strengthened your resolve for crusading for justice and peace and love.
Keep fighting the good fight with your mighty scribing hand.
God bless you Brother Micky!
Beautiful and well done!! You speak from the heart and express your feelings and thoughts well. Thank you so much for sharing!!
What we experience makes us what we are and however good or bad your experiences were, Micky, they made you capable of the feeling you are able to put into your writing. It shows that you are a good person. Good people make mistakes but they do not let them destroy their lives. Obviously, you are this kind of person.
Thank you for everything that you write.
Ths one was óut of this world´ Micky. Why are some people so cruel.? Thank God for people like you who speak up and tell it like it is.
The songs were fabulous too.
love you, Micky Dee xxxxx
Bless you for that little ´ditty´- xx
This hub is great! I could only aspire to write like you.
Micky, you write with passion. I may not have experience any war or deep struggles in life, but I can also sympathize with those who suffered because of injustice. This hub is quite moving. I like these lines:
"Thank You Lord for allowing me to know that You made me exactly as You needed me.
You gave me all the experience that I ever needed.
You gave me a wealth of knowledge that most men and women of all faiths can never know as they blind their own eyes.
Thank you Lord for my being able to stand up and testify to truth!"
Sometimes, God allows certain things to happen to make us a better person. You inspired many readers because of your hubs. You are here with Hubpages for a purpose. Keep it up!
Micky, my love - This is the most astounding hub. You should turn this into a book. It would surely be a best seller! You are a man among men, Micky...an example of the "pure in heart."
You bring passion and truth to all of us here on Hubpages. Your hubs are in a class of their own. They are the "untouchables" of lasting light.
Thank God for you, dearest Micky. This inspiring and very touching hub will benefit the many people I intend to send it to.
It is with honor that I vote UP, Useful, Interesting, Awesome and Beautiful. Much love to you, my friend.
