Don't Try A Track Stand On Three Margaritas

Don’t Try A Track Stand On Three Margaritas
I was riding my bike,
When along came along,
A beautiful bird,
That gave all the others, their song.
I didn’t want her to see,
The love my eyes would reveal.
After all, I am a macho-man,
And I like to keep it real.
So we rode and raced,
Into the morning rain.
We rode with the best,
And dropped the rest.
Finally it was just we two,
And what a team we made.
She appeared the perfect Goddess,
For which many men have prayed.
We rode hard into the rain,
As if riding for the Holy Grail.
As the rain flew up and in my face,
I thought, “My, what a pretty rooster-tail!”
We stopped by Margaritaville,
To ease our legs and mind.
It became a ride to Senoritaville,
As I met that Senorita of mine.
It was raining hard,
We were wet and very tired.
But after a Margarita,
I was getting a little wired.
I’m not sure if we ate at all,
It’s all such a blur,
And after another Margarita,
My words began to slur.
Was there salsa and chips,
My beautiful Senorita?
Or was there fire from burning lips,
And another Margarita?
We slipped away from Margaritaville
With very little swagger.
I was thinking of Senoritaville,
With quite an awful stagger.
We mounted our bikes,
And swerved on down the road.
But we came upon a traffic light,
Which caused me to write this ode.
I rotated my pedals to be,
At 3 and 9 o'clock.
And everything was fine,
Until I hit that rock.
I leaned to the left,
But then to the right,
I tried to stay erect,
With all my fuzzy might.
I was falling to the left,
But jerked toward my other side.
I teetered back enough,
And I was able to save my pride.
I was falling again, but then,
Just before I hit the ground.
I threw my opposite leg in the air,
But now I was turned around.
I found this trick profound!
So I tried this trick again,
And flipped myself around.
Now my Senorita was wearing quite a grin.
The ride was quite remarkable.
We were drowning all our pain,
With frozen Margaritas,
In a beautiful torrential rain.
We wobbled on our way.
The rain kept pouring hard,
We made it over the railroad tracks,
But I fell down in her yard.
She didn’t care a lick,
And we put our bikes up wet,
We had a bit more fun,
And then she lit a cigarette.
She said you’re cute,
But please, my Margaritaman,
Please don’t let this be,
Just another one night stand.
This was no one night stand,
She's my only Senorita.
And I’ll never try another track stand,
On three Margaritas.

This was just plain wonderful to read, and so very visual, feels much like a great short story, love what you do with all the photos in your poems, that takes lots of work and .... it really works.
And, I keep thinking it would be a great opening scene to a Meg Ryan movie, in kinder days gone by!
I love rain. I love the smell, the sound, the view. I also love the fresh air after it: the smell of wet earth and clean air! Such a beautiful collection of pictures you presented here. And of course, your poem never fail. Beautiful Micky! ^_^
This was great, Micky. I just loved the way you placed all those pics of rain scenes. They were beautiful.
Who´s the little box man on the ground, though?
BUT MICKY Who is the little man with a box head??? underneath him it says we wobbled a bit...
Can you manage to do a wheelie/trackstand/"pop a mono" on a racing bike without any Margaritas? It would be a hard trick to do without such liquid encouragement? Awesome poem with a happy ending!
wow...how so sweet Mickyl lovely....ooooh :-) We all need be this in love...
I love the rain and so wonderful that the two of you rode the in the rain..:-)
Jimmy Buffet would love it, I love it and I'm glad you found the Senorita who loved it.
Wow Micky, i loved the rhyme and the rain, you have so much to write about and it shines even in the rain.
Love and Peace
Hi! Mickey Dee
Enjoyed your poem very much! Just now it is a monsoon rainy season here in Mumbai, that gives just right surrounding and feeling to enjoy your poem and those beautiful pictures. Wish you and your senorita all the good luck and millions of poems full of joy from you
Beautiful poem thanks for sharing. Maybe you should consider publishing a book you have a gift.
This is truly adorable. Now I want a margarita!
Mickey Dee, Love your poetry! As always great photo's and such a nice account of what can happen under the influence of chips, salsa, pretty women and Margaritas.... Drink and ride at your own risk :)
I can just see you and Gene Kelly: "Grandstanding in the Rain" glad you survived Micky--loved the flow on this one. Thank you. =:)
I hope this is not a true story, lol. Always asked me what was with me and Micky and the rain. I didn't know if she was insinuating or what but she came back to explain we had both written about rain. lol
Loved all the photos and your words. I could just see you wheeling around and doing your fancy gyrations with your bike in the rain. Set to music and with the backdrop of rain falling...this could be a good as Gene Kelly swinging around that lightpole.
This is my favorite! You are not only a wonderful poet, a superb poet and good friend, you are also an awesome man.
Namaste friend.
LOL Now that's dedication, to ride in a hard driving rain. Great poem.
Yeah - everything was fine until you hit that rock! I'm sure the margaritas didn't have a thing to do with it....you know what they say - never drink and drive...or ride. Cute poem!
You have just the best 'photo poems' - such a creative idea - and I want that little cardboard box character which I'd love to frame or take home.
Super hub! Rated way up and more! Yay!
Another great poem Mickey and the pictures are lovely. For some reason seven of them did not load. Maybe they had one too many Margaritas and got lost in the rain. he he he
Mic, a track stand and a slow race on my Harley sound like one and the same, hard to do sober much less after tipping a few LOL, years back I tipped over like Arty Johnson on Laugh In, was a little tipsy and got my right leg caught under a 700 pound bike and couldn't get out from under it, after a good laugh and ribbing from the fellers I was riding with they finally broke down and helped me after first riding off to make me feel they weren't gonna help me.... ahhh good times and a good poem. I liked the card board dude as well and it is now on my screen saver in the rotation of my favorite pictures, 50
Micky, bro, I'm so glad you found your senorita in the rain! Rain and bikes don't always go so well together in my experience - loved the pretty rooster-tail!
Love and peace
Tony
Way to go Micky I love this poem. And I definitely love margaritas although I dont always make the most sensible decisions under the influence as a matter of fact I get down right stupid. lol. Cheers.
Beautiful poem, my brother. Good presentation between text and pictures. You have good imagination. The pictures are marvelous. from the first picture. I thought you cycling under the storm and heavy rain. Good work, Micky. I love this hub.

Sounds like me when I get a new set of pedals. Great way to kiss the pavement. You do nice work, MD.
wheelies in the rain,
to many Margaritas on the brain! hahaha!
Too funny! Loved it!
Another well done - combination of poetry and photos. I hope the little cardboard box man did not stay out in the rain for too long, he is best suited to a dry climate. :)
I just had to come back and read this again! It kind of paints a vivid mental image! lol
You know what they say about drinking and operating heavy equipment...never go in the water until you wait about two hours as the drink will cause cramps which could interfere with love-making activities. It's just a complicated mess...one thing leads to another. Nice work..I think I was injured in the fall! LOL WB
Beautiful, beautiful, nothing better than bad weather and booze. Sounds so romantic, happy for you MD man. Macho macho man I wannabe a macho man . . .
Hehehe, hmm, please Mick no one night stand and no margarita three, hmm, Maita
Now that's a wild ride...in more ways than one. Terrific piece that tells a great story. Love the painting!
