Friends Don't Let Friends Ride Junk!
68
The path is full of holes,
Where many hearts have sunk.
And the road will often yield,
A ripe possum or a martyred skunk.
I pray our epitaph reads,
“From these words, they’ve never shrunk,
‘We are our brother’s keeper,
Friends don’t let friends ride junk!”
Let it be said, long after we’re dead,
“From humanity, we never slunk,
We kept it real, stayed on the good wheel,
Friends don’t let friends ride junk.”
A bad machine can make person mean.
It can thrust an optimist into an awful funk.
Remember the love for your fellow man,
Friends don’t let friends ride junk.
A rusty chain or a soul in pain,
Or parts encrusted with gunk,
Patch a leak, Tweak your sister’s squeak,
But, friends don’t let friends ride junk.
A brake pad worn, or a heart that’s torn,
Can put the spirit in a funk.
Show compassion, with function and fashion,
Friends don’t let friends ride junk.
Live life to the fullest.
Grab your fair chunk.
May your joy be in abundance,
But don’t let your friends ride junk.
Don’t try to pack an elephant’s trunk.
Don’t lap-dance on a monk.
Don’t give mouth-to-mouth to a chipmunk,
And don’t let your friends ride junk!
Right down to the wire,
show your fire.
Showcase your love,
concern,
and spunk.
Don’t let your friends drive drunk,
and don’t let your friends ride junk!
~Micky Dee~
There are so many wonderful bicycles in the world.
Most bicycles,
regardless of the price,
can give you beauty and a freedom that cannot be explained.

I want an old-fashioned single speed with fat tires.
I ain't lap dancing no monk :-P Peace bro!! Tom and Justin
As always Micky what a great poem. I truly do enjoy your work my friend. I need to write more myself. I have the urge to write all day, but for some reason I never allow myself to put the words to paper, or into the binary code that my computer makes so interesting for me. Anyways, enough about me.
Great work indeed Micky, your work always brings a smile to my face, weather it is from gut busting laughter, or a beautiful work of art.
Keeping one's junk private is best...like they say"If you nothing but junk to ride,it's best just to not ride at all":-)
give me an old Murray with white wall tires.
Beautiful brother man
God Bless
I love a shiny new bike, I have to admit. But there is something wonderful about those old bikes I rode as a kid and they got me where I wanted to go. Bringing back fond and wonderful memories. Great write and even greater fun reading this one.
love this, and like Bobbi- I love the idea of a brand new bike, might be getting one soon =)
Ha that last picture is soooo funny, I love this my dear friend, a great hub as always, maybe you are a genius deep down in your soul, one think I do know is your heart is made of gold, rate this up up love & peace always darski
OMG Love IT! Start a new show, pimp my bike! You could be the star... :) Katie
I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. Much needed! :)
Lovely poem and pictures, Micky. I am sure that picture of the lady sitting on the grass next to her bicycle was censored... those days.
One of my most enjoyable activities while I was a child was bicycle riding. At this moment I remember when I was ten I rode afternoons after my homework was done for miles and miles talking (in English!) to my imaginary co-leader of an imaginary convoy bicycles. (Girls followed me and boys followed him.) I still remember the name I’ve given him – Alex. Sometimes I called him Rudolph. What I would like to know/understand now is why did I always speak in English to my imaginary friends and not in my mother-tongue, Afrikaans?
Take care, Micky, and yes, friends should not allow friends to ride junk.
Ha! Better a sister in a whore house than a bro' on junk!

I loved it! I'm ready for my shiny new ride. You're special and I love your poetry.
Videos, pictures and great poetry it has to be Mick D special.
Ah, what images you conjured up with this one, Micky, my man. Long ago and far away during the few years I lived with my folks in a small town, I would ride my bike (a Schwinn with fat tires) to school and back in nice weather.
Thanks for he great poem and excellent graphics.
I have a bike, even though I have a car, and the bike can get me to work in traffic quicker. Bikes get my vote. Great hub, Micky. Thank you.
So so clever Micky. You set yourself a high standard a long time ago and as of yet you have never failed to deliver.
Take care
Eiddwen.
Another great hub Micky. I got a new bike last year. I had to look a long time before i found a bike with the old time brakes, it's in the shed, waiting for spring to arrive.
Cheers
Loved this one, brotherman! Love bikes, love riding and love Micky Dee!
And the words you write are so true. Friends don't let friends ride, buy, speak, drink or eat junk!
Love and peace
Tony
I like that, especially that picture of the cute little girl.
I agree with Justom, no thanks - this is such a lighthearted read with thoughts to ponder, friends do well to ensure each others safety and I love how you intertwined a spiritual part to the end of this Hub.
Great job!
As usual your writing is top notch! I truly enjoy your creativity, and you never disappoint me. Thanks again for putting a smile on my face.

Very nice, Micky and I might add...good friends are hard to find.
I never really gave bicycles any thought until one of my daughters became a triathlete. The more I learned about them, the more I appreciated them. I can't wait for the weather to break so I can ride in the most free way I know...on my bicycle.
Up and awesome.
