I Never Had A Muslim...
67
I never had a Muslim,
With whom to disagree.
I’ve never had a Muslim,
To do any harm to me.
I never had a Muslim,
To run me off the road,
Curse and strike me,
Or any other episode.
I never had a Muslim,
To accuse me of a crime.
Or put me in a dank dark cell,
Until the end of time.
I never had a Muslim,
To hit me with a car.
Tell lies about me,
Or send me off to war.
I never had a Muslim,
To tell me another line.
I never had a Muslim,
To steal what is rightfully mine.
I never had a Muslim,
To choke me at my school,
I never had a Muslim,
To make me out to be a fool.
I never had a Muslim,
Threaten to put me underground,
Just because my car,
Happened to be broken down.
No! I never had a Muslim teacher,
To choke me at my school,
And I don’t know any Muslims,
Who break the Golden Rule.
But I’ve seen many Christians,
Turn the other way,
When they were to turn the other cheek,
Get on their knees and pray.
I’ve seen so many Christians,
With their own jihad,
Who turn away from humanity,
And turn away from God.
~Micky Dee~
Let's promote the Golden Rule whether Christian, Hindu, Muslim...
The Golden Rule
Islam: "None of you [truly] believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself." Number 13 of Imam "Al-Nawawi's Forty Hadiths .
Hinduism: This is the sum of duty: do not do to others what would cause pain if done to you. Mahabharata 5:1517
Judaism: "...thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
Ancient Egyptian: "Do for one who may do for you, that you may cause him thus to do. " The Tale of the Eloquent Peasant, 109 - 110 Translated by R.B. Parkinson. The original dates to 1970 to 1640 BCE and may be the earliest version of the Epic of Reciprocity ever written.
Roman Pagan Religion: "The law imprinted on the hearts of all men is to love the members of society as themselves ."
Christianity: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12, King James Version.
When any religion leavers the Golden Rule or abandons the spirit of the message, that religion loses me.
Pick one. It will not matter.
I live in the USA. I was raised Christian. I have been mistreated my by fellow man here. I've experienced the abandonment from Christianity.
I'm pretty sure I can easily be abandoned by folks of all religions.
From the actions of all parties involved,
I've decided to be
non-attached.
When any religion
fails to follow the universal law
of the Golden Rule -
it's just another cult.
I have no trouble trusting God.
But God knows
I'm having a lot of trouble
trusting people in America
and all over the world.
Whenever any religion drops the Golden Rule, they drop me.
God bless you all.
~Micky~
Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
A good spiritual person who can be as good as any, can come from ALL religions.
God's Golden Rule is written in every one.
If Christians refuse to follow THEIR LAW as given by Christ to be the law,
it's a cult.
If Jews refuse to follow THEIR LAW of the Golden Rule - their Judaism is a cult.
If Muslims refuse to follow THEIR LAW as given by Christ to be the law,
it's a cult.
No exclusions.
Atheists? Without obeying the LAW of "doing for and to others as you would have done to you" -you're just another aimless mob.
Above is just one of the deadlier symbols and idols on our small planet.
But using wealth against our people as is happening today is perhaps the greatest sin.
If the Golden Rule is the greatest law as Jesus said, then using money and resources against our people is the worst sin a man can do.
Resources and money gained from "hostile takeovers", polluting, murder, slavery sweatshops, etc., etc., etc., etc., is French Kissing Satan square on the mouth and elsewhere.
The resources on our Earth were meant ALL the brothers and sisters of our Earth.
The resources on Earth are not meant for the few to exploit and use against the people of the world.
We need to focus on this GOAT'S HEAD right here.
Vote for a lawyer? We'll get the same old stuff we always get: BIG BUSINESS, ploution, endless war, and endless slavery.

Hi Micky - Until I see convincing evidence of the supernatural, I will not subscribe to any religion. Nevertheless, I will try to harm no-one on my journey through life. You may believe that this is a golden rule written by a god. I may consider it 'mere' pragmatism. The only thing that is lacking from your hub is healthy respect for rationalists. After all, there may be no god. And we still would have to get along on this small planet.
This is a very beautiful Hub Micky. There is so much truth in it. All of the major religions can be boiled down to "Love they neighbor as thyself". Very few practioners of most religions do so. If all obeyed this basic maxim, this would be a wonderful world. I have found that devout Christians are the ones so intent on finding a Jihad amongst Muslims where no evidence exists. There are radicalized Muslims but we should not paint a broad brush. Thank you very much Micky for this wonderful Hub. I've bookmarked it.
I've always believed in the words written of Christ:
Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. [44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
To love in the reflection of my enemy that I may understand him, therefor no longer my enemy but my own mirror.;)
It is very easy to hate a faceless enemy. Why we continue to dabble in the lives of those in the Middle East is obviously they just 'happen' to have the oil we need and I suppose our military generals have to justify their jobs. To hate simply for a religion, color of skin, different lifestyle and I suppose for any number of senseless reasons, is a sin in itself. Great hub!
Micky, there are exceptions. Some people want to be treated badly. It is not right to humour their desires by abusing them. It's better to try to to bolster their self-respect to the point that they want to be treated with respect, even if the lesson is painful. There is no simple one-size-fits-all formula.
And I'm not a follower of Christ. I'm a rationalist. To insist otherwise is to disobey your own 'golden rule', by not extending to me the same right to self-determination that you award yourself.
Which thing having been said, I'd still love to take you on a cycling tour of the Scottish Highlands!
Thank you Micky, for a very Informative hub and awesome poem. Thank you for sharing. Godspeed. creativeone5t0
Great Hub Mic - it confirms my theory that God gives all of us the rules we need. The responsibility to follow them then lies squarely on our shoulders. Peace Bro!
I don't think you left any religion, belief or cult out with this one, Micky. Interesting how it all boils down to just one maxim - the Golden Rule.
Could not agree more brother, arguing about it all just makes me tired so I refuse to do it. Hope you're well Micky Dee. Peace!! Tom and Justin
Micky, I do think you covered every religion so many religions have the same message that do boil down to the Golden rule. I have never had any experience with a Muslim other than seeing them in a store, and yet I have a certain amount of fear of them because of what I've seen them due to their women in some Arab countries. I have had some supernatural type experiences that convinced me Christianity is the path I need to follow but I think that path tells me to love my brothers and sisters no matter what religion they are or what color they are. Why would anyone want what I have if I don't show the joy, peace and love that I received from the Lord?
I believe each religion has their God. I do believe each religion teach their followers doing a good things. I am Muslim and I want to live in peace. Just silly Muslim who hurt others by doing some terrors. My Prophet (Muhammad) also teach me to live in peace with other religion. He said every religion has their own way to pray and other things related with spirituality and how to connect with their God. So I am proud to be a Muslim and I believe my hubbers friends also proud to be a Christians, Hinduism, or Chatolic as well. Why we don't live happily with always support and respect with others.
For example, when the tsunami hit Japan a week ago. I thought every religions care and give attention to this incident. All religion gave their prayer to Japanese people.
Thank you very much,
Your nephew, prasetio
I also want to say, "I am proud has an uncle like you". Wherever we live and stay, if we believe God and try to live in Gods way, we will safe...amen. No matter what your religion, only do something good. My uncle, I hope you always healthy...amen. God bless you. Cheers....
Wow, this is so perfect Micky... We all should respect eachother for humanity and not for the sake of religion..No religion promotes hatred, enemity and bloodshed and in case if it does, then I don't think its a 'religion' at all... A lesson well taught through your words...
May God help us all to live in peace...
Have a good day!
Up and beautiful and all that sort of thing Mick. No arguments here. Love and peace brother. I don't much care for preacher's lice though.
Long live Shitinski!
Thank you very much for having written this wonderful hub. I believe that all religions teach their follower good values
I'm a muslim and I want all people from any religions to be my friends. Jihad for me is my struggle in earning income in halal way (in lines with islamic values) so that my daughter can go to school and there's available food, and proper living for my family. I don't believe in Jihad which is used for threatening, hurting, or killing others. As what I've been taught that Islam which runs in my blood must bring peace for all mankind (Rahmatan lil alamin).
Awesome and Rate up for your hub Micky.
This hub is doomed! It doesn't pit one side against another, whats with that? Who will I fight? How will I recognize the enemy? There has to be an enemy! What do I do if there isn't an enemy? Who will I blame? What do I do with my anger? There has to be anger! It fuels the fire that keeps us warm! Wait a minute! It isn't cold!
By far, the best hub you've written. Chesterton wrote, "It isn't that Christianity has been tried and found wanting, it's been found wanting and left untried" I suspect it is true of every creed that would make hate subsevient to love!
Bravo Bravo Bravo my dear lovely Micky, I want to give you a standing ovation, I alone cannot fix this problem we all need to fix this problem. I have experienced the same as you, I feel the same as you, I fell throw alices looking glass, now I will never find my way home. I never had a muslum be bad to me, but I have had many people of all religions treat me bad...Love you, Darski rate up upupup upupupup
Well done Micky Dee.
And I have to say as a woman I have never had a Muslim taunt me on the streets. It's American men who always thought they had the right to yell out comments when we as beautiful young happy women would walk by. And when we ignored them - it's the American men who would get nasty and rude. Here in Brooklyn, NYC - when a woman walks through the Muslim communities she knows she will not be ogled, no one trying to pick her up, no cat-calls, no nasty remarks (under the guise of - 'I was just giving the b%*#h a compliment). We feel safer in the Muslim communities any time day or night. I cannot say this about any other community.
Rated up.
Carolyn
Micky I couldn't agree more with you, you hit the nail right on the head, we always have to pick on another culture because they are different, they have something we want etc, etc, etc. We are all suppose to be brothers and sisters in this world. I'm SICK of the hate, the killing and wars. I'm just tired anymore brother man and I leave it all in the hands of the Lord.
God Bless
May God and goodness always bless you and keep you. \Great article and a great reminder about our humanity.
I echo every word Prasetio said. We all are one people. We can live in peace, love each other, or choose to be divided by religion. Like so many have said above, their God is of The Muslim faith, The Hinduism faith, The Jewish faith, etc., In reality it is one God, The Creator. The most important aspect to living our lives is to have love for all people. When we do that, there will be no wars, no one will ever run you off from the road, preachers will not preach hate against anyone who is different. We will embrace all beliefs knowing we all want the same. Thank you Micky, your words make me think and that's a good thing.
God Bless You and keep you safe.
Mickey, another profound hub for reflection. As I read, I began to remember all the harms done to me by those professing to be "Christian". I have known some who were that lived the tenants of the faith. They were beautiful people. Thanks again for sharing.
very good hub. dont judge a race, or gender etc..etc as a whole for one persons doing.
Oh My Mickey. That was deeper than deep, thats a good message to the whole wide world. GOD Bless you Mickey.
I enjoyed this one Mickey. Let us love all of our brothers and sisters just as GOD does, and leave the judging to GOD. Wonderful wonderful hub!
Oh, Micky, I audibly gasped. So perfectly written. Your message loud and clear. Now, I know the truth, you are my brother. Sometimes, I'm ashamed to admit that although baptized Catholic and taught in parochial schools, I cannot make myself go into a church. I believe completely, without reservation, in God. I talk to him regularly. But, personally, organized religion is a sin. I remember the hypocracy in the confessional, in the priests that said Mass and gave out communion slack-jawed drunk, I remember the teacher's lies about God turning bad children into butterflies that flew out the window to maintain control in an over-crowded classroom. And, I will never get beyond the crimes against the innocent children, put in front of them with blind trust by the parents, who wouldn't even allow one negative word against God's mediators, the priests.
God save me from the Christians.
I do apologize to anyone that sincerely calls themselves Christian. My intent is not to insult or say that all "Christians" operate in the way I became accustomed to. To them, I do apologize in all sincerity.
Micky, I love you, man.
All I can say is thanks for getting me thinking again, your words are inspiration.
Muhammed Ali also said 'No Vietcong ever called me N....r'
I go along with Paraglider on the god issue. jandee
Well written and thought out Mickey. You have outlined a model that that we would all do well to live by. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful poem, Micky and those quotes from so many diferent religions .. all havung their version of the Golden Role, was very thought--provoking,
An excelent hub. Thank you. Loved the video too.
Slam it home brother! Got nothing to add to what you said, just wanted ya to know I stopped by. Peace bro - Semper Fi.
Mic' what can I add to what has been said, Pras and Always Exploring seem to lay out the perfect comments and feelings in their hubs, and I add you tenacity for the Golden Rule, I have faith we will live in such a place in the near future, It will be the greatest reward of all time. Peace, I love you Brotherman, Vet.!!! dust
Pleased there is an awesome button on the page as this fits the bill for it very well.
I am a hindu and have always beleived it is amongst the most tolerant relegeons ion the world sicne it does not tell us that those not Hindus are not Gods people.about God it says "viprah bahuda vadanti"God is one the learned call him by different names.
and YET the learned of our relegeon are begining to ask us to hate muslims and destroy mosques just because some muslims behave atrociuosly. If we behaved as the deviants of other relegeons do then they wouldn't be deviants -they would be the norm we follow too.
more strength to your elbow friend- may your tribe be increase. count me in as a member
There is a lot of good information in this hub, you have done some research..I wish man would always lived by the Golden Rule...if he/she did, this world be like heaven on Earth! Thank you for caring and being a good person.. Lovely, lovely poem!
Great words Micky; thought provoking. Much of what the American public feels about Muslims is manufactured from above, not as a result of personal experience.
Love, respect and empathy super hub.
Micky,
What a beautiful way to wake up-can't think of a better way!!!!!!!
I shall read this [with your name] at my fathers service tomorrow, he would have loed this so deeply, lets hope he still can
god bless
and thank you so much
Micky, in your wise way, you simply reinforce what I believe. As you pointed out, it is about people and the way we treat each other. Religion does not make you a good person or bad person, it is all about how you choose to act and treat your fellow human beings.
Well done my friend.
Wonderful Hub my dear mickey.!!!!!!!
im impressed again & will alwayz..
I'm with ya man, if the golden rule is dropped than I withdraw. This has always been my beef with religion,
I have had many people describe me to be a very religious man because of my faith and how I choose to live my life and serve my God, but I always try to express that I do not want to be associated with what this world defines as religion.
Micky I wish I had your talent to be able to articulate the message the way you do. The message is really very simple and people try to complicate it. I could go on and on here- I will just say that you are right on, I enjoy reading your hubs, and vote this one awesome and up. God bless- Rob
I found this a very enjoyable hub.I have met many Muslims and those who believe that Islam is a religion of peace like all other religions are good people.
Most religions have people who use it for their own ends as you can see throughout history.
As all your references said, treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. Anyone who does not have compassion and friendliness towards their fellow man cannot be said to be truly religious and believe in God. This is the basis of all religions.
I don't know how you find the time or the inspiration for all your hubs but keep them coming Micky.
It is a good thing you were not at the World Trade Center on 09/11/2001, or you might have accidentally been wronged by one of those do-gooder muslims. I wouldnt try and put these theories of angelic muslims to the test. Dont go off to Iran or any part of the middle-east for that matter to experience their hospitality toward Christians.
Those people who did that cannot be said to be Muslim or to believe in any God. Any more than the priests who would carry the weapons for the IRA in Ireland because the soldiers weren't allowed to stop and search priests.
I have travelled in Pakistan and the people there (Muslims) are very welcoming and friendly and would share their last crust with you.
In fact there have probably been more murders by Christian terrorists than any other religion.
I havent heard of these Christian terrorists. Are they doing suicide bombings, attacking our military, or beheading non-believers???? Tell me more. It is not to say that there are not nice muslims...there certainly are. But I would suggest you do not travel over to muslim countries and profess to be a Christian. Your life will be in jeapordy.
Good work, Micky - Keep fighting the good fight.
I have Orthodox Christian friends who travelled in Iran, Syria, and Jordan. They were met with nothing but kindness towards strangers, as is customary in this part of the world. I hope to go Iran, one day, and see the ruins of Ancient Persepolis - the country holds no fear for me.
Micky Dee- it is quite cowardess to omit my comments. It is a characteristic of those who are intimidated or over matched. There is much to say here, if you are willing to openly discuss. But, instead, all you want is confirmation of your ideas. You are very insecure in your beliefs.
I had a few Muslims attack my country back on 911 and kill thousands of my countrymen. That HARMED me. It harmed me personally, spiritually, and it messed with my 12 year olds son's mind and view of the world. He saw what he saw on TV and it sewed hate into his heart. I had a Muslim sew hate into the heart of a young boy who is my only son.
I had a Muslim go nuts at a military base and kill several of my soldiers. I watched on YouTube, and still can today, as a few good Muslims cut the head off my countrymen as they held him down chanting to Allah, while he screamed in horror. My son saw that too.
Being part of the military I received a lot of videos from friends in Iraq. America has been perfecting its surveillance technologies and techniques in these "wars." Many of these video's show good Muslims sneaking off into the middle of the night with their neighbor's wife to have sex in the back of a jeep somewhere in the dark.
People are people and will fall into temptation regardless of culture and religion. To present one religion as some kind of magnanimous all peaceful, all loving, all wonderful people is short-sided.
I agree with you on turning the other cheek , but lets not overlook the sewing of hate into the hearts of the impressionable when one commits acts of evil.
The Bible also says, "Be ye angry and sin not." There is such a thing as righteous anger.
- God bless you too
- Harlan
Please write more on this topic. It will help us building relationship with all the people on this earth not on the basis of religion.
Micky-what new are you offering? The naive and ignorant view that Muslim nations are just trying to be our friends and that the American gov't is the real enemy?? Your golden rule applies to those who agree with you, but your hatred flows heavy for the republican party and for the braudoys of this country. You give muslims the benefit of the doubt at all times, but condemn Bush and other who you disagree with, no matter what the circumstance.
do you stay focused on the "golden rule" as you spout out hatred toward me and anyone who disagrees with you????
You are prepared to meet me fo any contest?? Are you suggesting a debate or a duel with pistols? We are meeting right here and you refuse to debate me. YOu erase the comments you dont know how to respond to. The playing field is in your favor and you are the cheater, and yet, I am still willing to discuss the issues with you. Sir, you have been challenged and confronted. What will you do?
Dear Mickey,
You judge me too fast friend. I too doubt seriously many things about 911, how it is that 3 buildings came down when only two were hit, how it is that 5 planes went down, and only 3 can be substantiated etc.
Please understand, there is an America I stand for and defend, it is not necessarily the America of Obama and/or GW and the profiteers upon the blood of the innocent.
Granted I don't know the truth about a lot of such things... but I do know... I see on Youtube... muslims radicals cutting off the heads of terrified American's.
I see muslims stoning to death a 16 year old girl because her father said so... I see Iraq hanging two young men and a young woman for homosexuality -which I too dsiagree with, but not unto putting them to death; I also see a video of an 8 year old boy having his arm broken on a cement curb via the tire of a car - because he stole an apple to curb his hunger.
That's like shoving his head under water and then breaking his arm for trying to breath. Give me a fricken break. These radical people are an ANIMALISTIC CULT DAMNED BY GOD! And if you think I just said all Muslims - then you are part of that cult!
When it comes time to picking sides and draw the line... I have to draw the line on... that's just not right.
really... that's where I am coming from.
If a Muslim wants to love me, be my neighbor and be friends etc - live and let live... I am all about that.
If not... I am ready for that too,
- God bless you friend
- Harlan
A lesson in verse sure can get the point across especially when it points out some hypocrisy. Thanks Micky! WB
I am pretty sure that Obama is an American lawyer. So are both Clintons. But, I dont like lawyers either. But I dont discriminate because I dont like muslim lawyers also.
I have read the comments on this hub. Braudboy, you left a comment after mine and it is clear from what you wrote that you have no idea what you are talking about.
Hubpages is for people to write about anything they choose. It is not a place for ignorant people to kick others in the teeth for not agreeing with what they say.
It is obvious from your writing that you only visited a school long enough to learn to read and write. You need to read books, learn about history, not only American but world wide. You need to open your mind and not repeat parrot fashion what you have heard others say.
Anyone can see from your writing that you are getting very violent and it is always the uneducated who are the most easily brain washed. They do not know what to think themselves and always seem to follow those who are quick to use their fists.
Seeing you with your daughter on your lap, you don't look like that, I hope you are not. Maybe your words here are just bravado. I cannot say. You should be strong enough to accept that we are not all the same and that everyone has a right to live as they choose.
It is the destruction of someone else's way of life that is the crime.
Speaking of the Irish terrorists, there were far more bombs laid by them than any so-called Muslim terrorists. It was a regular thing as I was growing up to hear of another bomb, another time that people woke up in bed to be shot. Another time that someone opened the door to be shot in the face. Another time someone was found tied to a tree and had hot tar poured on their body and feathers strewn over them. Another time that a mother wasn't allowed to see her dead soldier son's body because it had been mutilated by the Irish terrorists. My sister was in the British Army and she told me of the mothers who would carry guns under their babies in the pram. They would put razor blades beneath their babies so that if the soldiers searched the pram for weapons they would be cut. There are many other horrendous things too ugly to mention here.
Noraid is an American Irish fundraiser for the Irish Republican Army, the Irish terrorists.
I don't blame you Braudboy for your beliefs. You don't know the facts.
Amen Micky.
I reverted to Islam a few years back because it fits my views the best. However in recent times as you well know, I have come to take a much much broader view of God. It is very arrogant for any man to presume he knows the Will of God or what His plans for us may or may not be. This is why I love you so much, you helped me to understand this what I believe to be a truth. I guess to say I am Muslim is incorrect, I am more of a Muslewstan. I read all the Holy text from Abrahamic traditions. I know a lot of people are going to be surprised when they get to heaven and realize it is not only people from their religion there with them.
It is obvious that what ever Grand Design God has, diversity is a huge part of that. Just look at all the different types of people and cultures. So if God knowingly did this, does it even make sense that he would expect us all to follow one single religion? Think about it, really think about that. I don't and wont presume to know Gods Will, but honestly if he made us all so very different and did this intentionality, then how could we even begin to believe that He would expect us all to accept and devote ourselves to one single religion?
Oh my brotherman! This is beautiful. We always find ways to be against others without recognising that in hurting others we are really hurting ourselves. It is so easy to make someone different into a scapegoat. It is so difficult to love someone we don't understand.
But those are the things we have to do if we want to live as human beings together on this little planet.
Thanks for writing these wonderful words. We need to spread peace and love, not hatred and destruction.
Love and peace
Tony
I understand there are American terrorists. The union leaders leading protests to ruin our economy. Democrat activists who are polluting our values and morals. There are certainly many examples. There are also some brutal and common examples of Muslim extremists. I spoke earlier of it but you cowardly erased my comments.
braudboy, I can't stand it any longer. I didn't comment because i knew Micky would toss you out with the pig slop, but when you start calling the Democrats activists, polluting your values and morals, my stomach starts to churn. What morals, what values do you or any of your kind have. You would have us back in the sweat shops making fifty cents an hour, You would break every union, you would stop funding schools, you complete and total jerk. I could go on, but i think you get the picture. Study history, and pray that we don't return to the days when only the rich could be educated. It's not been that long ago when a Black was caught reading a book, he was beaten to death.
Hey Micky, I'm going to butt my nose in here really quick.
fist off, no political party in their current form should exist in america. Regardless of what one may think of their party, they really are not so different. They have the same exact goals, they just have different means to achieve them.
That being said, most of my personal morals, beliefs, and personal convictions lie in the right of the political line, do I consider my self republican? the answer to that would be no, do I consider my self Conservative? half of that answer would be no, and half would be yes. I do not consider my self to be conservative in the sense one is labeled with todays political party. I guess one might call me a liberal conservative, if you had to label me. Though I like to consider my self in the Constitution of the United States party. If its not in the constitution or bill of rights, it has no place in America and especially its politics.
While I am against certain things personally, like abortion, I also believe that if someone else wants to do it and it doesn't directly effect me, more power to them. I am against same sex marriage, in the sense that I believe it is a Direct Gift from God, but at the same time, if a gay man wants to be gay and it does not involve me, more power to him. He has my full support and blessings, as it is his God given right to pursue happiness. The bottom line is,if you align with any political party as they stand in the US today, you are part of the problem. Sorry if i offend any one, that is just this one mans personal belief.
Well in truth the "roots" of all political parties is good. Communism is a great thing on paper, but it never works in real life, as an Idea its awesome in practice its very scary. The very same thing can be said about socialism or even capitalism and almost every other system that can be dreamed up with maybe the exception of a dictatorship, but really on paper that doesn't even sound such a bad idea.
But to think the democratic party is not as entwined in CIA dollar politics is naive, and I know you are not a naive person.
I took one of those tests one time that tell you what political party you fall into. I was shocked at the results, because the area I actually fell into is not the area I thought I belonged. The point is at the "roots" or the base "idea" the republican party is just as good and joyous and the democratic party, at its roots. The idea either party sets on paper, the idea that people like to believe they are following and supporting in their votes, is almost never what is really happening. The democratic party is just as involved in special interest, they take just as many "questionable" donations as republicans or any other political party. The bottom line is, both parties seek the same goal, they just have different means to that same end so they can get as many people to go along with it as possible.
Bush did have the idea to go into Iraq, but lets face the facts, with out the full support of congress he would never have been allowed to start a full on war there with the army, he would have had his 90 days with the marines and that would have been that, though lets admit to ourselves who held the power to allow the war to start in the first place, it was the democrats, to think they had no special interest in this war is also naive. but we could argue this point for years, as america has been, that i would like to avoid.
Dont get me wrong, Im not saying democrats are right and republicans are wrong or vice versa, in fact I am saying they are both wrong and they are both just as sick and twisted as the other. To think the problems in America are the fault or majority the fault of one party or the other, is a blind and very naive statement.
That being said, it is very well known fact that the republican party supports these global wars in multiple countries and often rally for them. Yes it needs to stop, but again with out the support of the democratic party, none of this would have happened in the first place nor would it continue to happen. Obama never had intentions to stop any of these wars, and the democratic party had plenty of time to stop all of this. They had almost 2 years, with a majority in congress the house and the presidency, yet it all continued the same it did under bush, or even Clinton with a republican lead congress.
All of this is solid prof to any one who is not in denial that these to parties are one in the same. The same motives and the same goals, they just paint the picture with different words. One is not more at fault than the other it is like a marriage the split is 50/50, and to think it any other way, is again very naive way to think and to live.
Sorry if I have offended anyones views, it is not my intention. I only wish that people would look at the facts here, my statements are supported fully by historical fact and not my opinions. If i wanted to argue political opinion and conjecture, well we can do that also, although it is not what i want to do. I only wish to show that choosing any side in american political system is to chose the losing side.
I guess simply put, democrat nausea is just as revolting as the republican poop.
I just wanted to add. At its roots, the republican party is the party that ended slavery, and allowed women to vote, at it's roots it is a lovely thing, same with the democratic party, but we both know neither is at their roots, nor will they ever return there.
Totally agree with your sentiments. Organised religions divide men.
Micky, as you know, I don't always agree 100% with you on some issues. But you also know that I have 100% admiration and respect for you. There is NO argument against the practice of the Golden Rule...and your hub here reflects this with great poetic grace...as you are most certainly talented and gifted to do this.
My only complaint (and it just MY opinion) is, is your vile generalization towards a republican. Though I do not always agree completely with the republican party, I, by default, am considered a republican. You clearly state your distaste for corruption, as I do too! Not ALL republicans are corrupt....as a voter, I have to choose between two, maybe three (if we are lucky) individuals to represent what I think is best for this Nation, State, County.....
To get back on topic, It is MY belief that the fruits of the spirit that Jesus wanted all of us to utilize that being love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control....this world we be heaven on earth.
Thanks Mick!
:)
WHO P!SSED IN YOU WHEATIES?
I merely stated my opinion...and I put that in parenthisis to stress this.
Do you not allow other opinions on here?
I did not ONCE cut you down OR discredit you....as a mater of fact, I praised you. I STILL do. I totally respect your PASSION for GOD and HUMANITY.
I did not say I was agreeing with braudboy....I'm not saying he is entirley wrong either.
obviously, I struck a chord in which you wish not to discuss. I will simply bow out.
First of all, I should not even respond, but..
Second of all, Who is Art Pope?
thirdly, I have not rambled off 238 hubs, but I have wrote 19...no, I don't want any medals
and lastly, you calling me a Jackass? What have i done?
where and who have I abandoned?...have I killed or critizied YOU? NO! but you sure have done so to me.
and YOU preach the Golden Rule?
I'm sorta confused...
Hey there Micky! I love your passion. I sometimes get a little lost 'cos I don't understand all the US politics stuff - but I love you, my brotherman! Keep on writing.
Love and peace
Tony
I have read the hub and then I have read and read and read the comments. There seem to be three men here, all of whom have strong beliefs and opinions.
Why braudboy feels the need to come on Mickey Dee's hubs just to disagree is beyond me. I didn't see anywhere in the hub that said "this is my opinion, please come and bash it and then change the subject to include anything else we disagree upon."
CMerritt seems to have a more level head than braudboy but I still don't understand the need to voice your disagreement on another person's hub.
If I read something I disagree with or feel has no merit I don't waste my time and energy, or theirs, by spouting my beliefs on their hub. I may shake my head and even mumble under my breath, but then I move on. You could also write hubs of your own stating what you believe. I doubt Mickey is going to haunt you and lay in wait for you to write something so he can return the behavior you guys have displayed.
If he seems irritated, like someone pissed in his cornflakes, maybe that's because he is of a generation who believed in our country. Just maybe, giving heart body and soul as a Marine in Viet Nam and all that entailed has opened his eyes to things we can not even possibly imagine, let alone live through. He has the right to speak his mind, give his opinion and so do you ... on your own hubs. I suggest you both go write one. I believe that is what he is saying, in essence. You poke someone with a sharp stick and then wonder when they react? That doesn't show much valor in my eyes and it certainly doesn't win me over to believing anything credible has come out of your mouths. You may have some truths, I don't know and neither does anyone else that has read this fiasco. It doesn't take a genius to bash another person's statements. If you have something valid to say, lets see it ... on your own hubs.
Poohgranma! Thank you form the bottom of my heart. God bless you for allowing me to be me. God bless you for allowing me to speak. Thank you for allowing me to have an opinion. Right now I have a huge hub that was pulled. It's loaded with a "different opinion" and it asks a lot of questions.
I've honestly thought about pulling all my hubs. I've thought about it before. I'm spending to much time with people who insult and harass.
I sure don't like any ideology that demands a one track blinders-on approach.
God bless you for lifting me up!
As I said before, get some rest now and give the troubles of this world to God. Only He knows the end from the beginning and only He will truly understand your heart.
Your friends love and support your right to write of your opinions. None of this (discussion) is worth the bandwidth it took up.
Rest now and have a bright tomorrow. We will be here.
Beautifully done Micky
I have read all the comments here. The main one that I don't like is the idea of you taking all your hubs and going. Most of us like to read your hubs, you have so many different kinds. Funny, interesting, informative and sad. You are a voice of reason among so much dross that is printed here.
So carry on writing Micky. Hummingbird
God bless you- my friends!
Button dance in effect!
Of course I don't really like Islam, but I definitely haven't had any Muslims. . . .do anything at all to me, other than sell me what I wanted at the store!
I've also stolen your baphomet/Washington picture!
Truce Mick...God Bless you, keep on hubbing brother!
Time and time, you reminding me why I already really like you from the first I knew you; whether as an author or as a person. The voice inside our heart will never mistaken in recognizing the beauty inside others no matter what it's cover. But those who only able to see the surface, the skin and the label which they seen with their blurry eyes, will easily blinded by his own fears and doubt. You are the one who showed the world, there is still many American who living by his core, and not turned into just money, technology or hedonist's lover. I am so proud that I ever knew you, King Micky. May God give great peace in your heart and life. You fitted very well as the King in my "The Land of HubPages" series because you are the example of great man we all want to know and love.
Micky Dee - Great hub and, wow, great comments too! I have to both agree with you and say you hit a nerve with me. It seems like a daily occurance that I see someone who's value of money above all else just mystifies me. Can't eat money, it wont hold you when you cry, it doesn't laugh at our jokes and has no real value what so ever, yet it has more value then anything else?!?! A serious WTF moment there (and it happens daily!)
Well done Mickey, this is a great hub and beautiful. Believers of different religions have positive and negative and all I can say is that you are positive ones who agree and accept coexistence. You are one of the best man kind who likes that all citizens of the world to live peacefully, fraternity and love. Thanks for sharing.
Abdi.
Nice poem. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Micky this is such a beautiful hub. If only people could concentrate on the areas where we agree, instead of making walls where we disagree, the world would be a much better place. My husband works with many Muslim people, he has for many years. His place of work always accomodated their need to pray at specific times of day, and made them a prayer room to do so. After 9/11, people from the company were writing mean messages about the Muslim people. Ignorant people who couldn't even spell Muslim correctly. Maybe a few trips to the prayer room would have benefited them instead! I am also interested in all religions, and think they share basic premises. Keep fighting the good fight, my friend!
It's ALL BEEN SAID...GOD BLESS YOU...:o) Hugs:O) G-Maa
Micky: That was beautiful. I don't often read poetry but yours are a Must-Read!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/12-killed-in-a
You said "you never had a muslim, do any harm to me..."
Apparently, he did the harm to someone he could reach, instead. While not all Muslims are prone to kill randomly... Islam is NOT compatible with freedom, with Christianity, or with any value you hold dear.
It is always a tragedy when people are killed. But this happened after the Quran burning by the "Pastor" in America. He did that with the sole intention of inciting hatred and violence. He claims to be Christian but in fact he does not stand for any Christian beliefs that I understand. His Christianity is definitely NOT compatible with freedom or any value that I hold dear.
He must be feeling happy now because what he intended has happened. He is a mean, narrow-minded little man who has no right to be claiming to be a man of God.
He is like the terrorists who claim to be Muslim. They no more believe in God than Terry Jones. They are partners.
It doesn't matter what Jones wanted, or if he is a Christian, or not a Christian. The relevance is that under the auspices of Islam, by religious edict, a mob murdered people for no other reason, than someone did something they didn't like. We understand when one person retaliates against someone who harmed them. We likely don't agree, but we understand that people's anger overwhelms them. But this wasn't any overwhelming. This was planned murder of people unrelated to any concern they may have had. This is Islam. When will you wake to that fact?
This is not Islam. When will YOU wake up and realise that your knowledge about most things is very small,(I have read some of your hubs) and learn about Islam. Then when you have studied the life of the Prophet, read the Quran, studied history you can then come back.
In a couple of years when you have read something you will see that in history wherever Muslims went they treated people with dignity and respect and people of all religions were living side by side in peace.
The fanaticism and Al Qaeda particularly are an American product. If you knew anything about recent history you would know this. Trouble is, that you are like the ignorant ones who listen to the mullahs. Your mullahs are the press and the republicans.
Hummingbird- you refuse to see the very real facts that this world's most dangerous element at present, is the muslim extremism and the religious fanatics of the Islam religion. Period.
Inspiring Hub Micky. irrespective of religion or non-religion the Golden Rule holds true across the nations.
Thanks for a thought-provoking Hub
hummingbird: "The fanaticism and Al Qaeda particularly are an American product. If you knew anything about recent history you would know this. Trouble is, that you are like the ignorant ones who listen to the mullahs. Your mullahs are the press and the republicans."
No, that's the global mass murdering religion of Islam. You cannot blame Americans for the mass murder, repression, oppression and endless fighting that goes on EVERYWHERE Islam is dominant.
The very idea that this is American is beyond stupid. Islam's rampage of murder goes back FAR into history before America even existed.
Just think about what Americans did to the race of American Indians before you start on YOUR nonsense.
Nonsense, hummingbird.
You are truly a disturbed, unhinged person.
Your vietnam war was waged by democrats. You were handpicked by the democratic party to participate in that war. You probably forgot that during your tirade against the republican war machine.
It was Democrats like John Kerry, who then spit on Vets when they returned, called them babykillers and all sorts of horrible stuff.
It was the technocrats who thought they could "engineer" a war to accomplish political ends (democrats), and sent people in to die and then pulled them out for politics... who were manipulated by the fatuous liars of the other side. I was young back then, and my parents shielded me from the hate spewed at the returning soldiers, and so I knew nothing of why my brother came home pretending he wasn't a soldier. Spew YOUR hate at someone else. You've totally misdirected it now.
I'm not even a Republican... But your hate is so overwhelming you just can't see or think straight. Get some help.
I'm not sure whose hate is preventing them thinking straight here? As I recall it was a republican, Tricky Dick, who first tried to bomb Vietnam into submission, incidentally and illegally bombing Cambodia in the process, and then rather ignominiously pulled the troops out of Vietnam when his much-vaunted bombing did not succeed. On the advice of Kissinger, who later could command huge sums as a consultant although he was the architect of the US defeat in Vietnam. He got rich on the backs of people like Micky Dee who put their lives on the line for the lies of Nixon and Kissinger.
Which is not to say that the Dems were much better. LBJ escalated the war and was responsible for the deaths of many, many innocent people.
On the question of Islam Hummingbird has it more right. I am just at the moment reading a biography of Muhammad in which the author (not a Muslim) states: "The Qu'ran teaches that war is always abominable. Muslims must never open hostilities, for the only just war is a war of self-defence, but, when once they have undertaken a war, Muslims must fight with absolute commitment in order to bring the fighting to an end as soon as possible."
And further: "In the Islamic empire Jews, like Christians, had full religious liberty; the Jews lived there in peace until the creation of the State of Israel in our own century (this book was published in 1991)"
The author also points out that "the word 'Islam' comes from a root which means peace and reconciliation" and that Muhammad insisted on such a policy, even at the cost of alienating some of his own followers.
Islamic fanaticism is a reflection of the fanaticism of other religions and is not a necessary part of the faith.
There is also not too much truth in the statement "mass murder, repression, oppression and endless fighting that goes on EVERYWHERE Islam is dominant." Certainly that is true of some countries, though I think if one examined such occurrences more deeply they would be seen to have causes other than Islam. Certainly mass murder and repression are not essential to the creed of Islam, but are rather against its values.
Looking at the writings in the Qu'ran and at some of the rather lurid passages in especially the Old Testament there is little difference, and yet you would not say that Judaism or Christianity promote mass murder and repression. But many Christians do and have done, even against their fellow Christians.
Spreading hate and prejudice against people who are different is not going to aid the cause of peace. Name calling and the shouting of slogans does nothing to promote understanding.
The war in Vietnam was a dreadful mistake which has left deep scars, scars which will still take years to heal.
I see this Hub of Micky's, and others that he has written about his experiences in that war and after, as eloquent cries of pain and disillusion. Instead of squabbling about other people, let's try to honour Micky's pain, to understand it and to try to do whatever it takes to prevent such horrors happening again.
Try to read this Hub as a plea for understanding, not a justification of anything. Let Micky's eloquent words, and the searing pain they reveal, move us to work for understanding, which is really the only basis on which peace can be built.
Only through understanding will we be able to live together as brothers (and sisters!) and the only alternative, as MLK said, is that we die together as fools. I don't much like the sound of the second alternative.
Love and peace
Tony
You erased my comments....are you in denial??? It needs to be known that a Christian is a target in muslim countries. Christianity is the enemy of muslims. As a believer in Christianity, you should recognize this instead of insisting that it is the republican party who is the enemy of Christianity.
Mick, though I refuse to back down from my beliefs, I have nothing but respect for you. I know that you have YOUR opinions and you earned them via Vietnam war. Something I will not even pretend to understand. Just know that I have 100% respect for ALL our military. Those who fought and gave their lives in Vietnam, have a different view thant I have on some issues. I do, listen, and TRY to be more understanding.
I will leave it at that.
Great article which is well shared,thanks.kudos.
I agree with Fay Paxton comment! Great article!

Micky, this is an absolutely wonderful hub and a perfect lesson for a Sunday afternoon. As I read your opening poem, I couldn't help but think of Muhammed Ali. I remember when he objected to going to Vietnam, he had the same sentiment...the Vietnamese had never done anything to him.
Superb hub.
