June 12, 2010 Tarwheels & The Ken Har Memorial- Rawhide Bike Ride
64Ken Har Memorial Bike Ride
This is an annual event that starts in Cedar Grove, NC- just out of Hillsborough. The route is the route that Ken liked and rode the day before his tragic auto accident. He was a volunteer at the Durham rescue mission.
Alan Schumacher was again our fantastic ride leader and host. Alan provided colas, energy drink, and water as well as cue sheets.
Alan collected $900 in donations and matched funds to make it over $1400.
God bless you Alan!
Pat, Cy, MD
Pat, Cy and I ride about 10 miles out to the start of the ride. It's an easy glide!
Faucette Mill Road June 12, 2010
Let's Roll!
Let’s roll down the hill,
Right out of town on Faucette Mill.
I’m already feeling whole.
Let’s roll! Let’s heal the soul.
Let’s carve the curve at the pretty farm.
White house, red roof, and extra charm.
On the coldest day it looks so warm.
Luke Perry, Coleman Loop, Highland Farm.
Let’s gear it down and climb this knoll.
Let’s roll. Let’s lift the soul!
Go ahead with the bigger chain-ring.
The derailleur pulleys are trying to sing.
Let’s roll! Let’s fly- on the road, not the sky.
Float. Use no effort. Keep the RPMs high.
We’re warming up before we begin.
We’re just rolling out an easy ten.
Ken Har's daughter greeted the riders and started us off.

Rawhide Bikeride!
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Bikeride!
Roiling, rolling, rolling
Though my butt is swollen
Keep them bike-wheels rolling
Bikeride
Rain and wind and weather
I wish my butt was leather
Wishing I was off my sore backside
All the things I'm missin'
A bathroom to do some pissin’
I can’t wait for the end of my ride
Move 'em on, head' em up
Head 'em up, move' em on
Move 'em on, head' em up
Bikeride
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, cut 'em out
Call 'em out, ride 'em in
Bikeride
Keep moving, moving, moving
Have fun and just be groovin’
Keep them bicycles moving
Bikeride
Don't try to understand 'em
Don't try to reprimand 'em!
We can't be riding side by side!
My heart calculatin'
My ticker is fibrillatin’
I’ll be dead at the end of my ride
Move 'em on, head' em up
Head 'em up, move' em on
Move 'em on, head' em up
Bikeride
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, cut 'em out
Call 'em out, ride 'em in
Bikeride
Move 'em on, head' em up
Head 'em up, move' em on
Move 'em on, head' em up
Bikeride
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, cut 'em out
Call 'em out, ride 'em in
Bikeride
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Bikeride
Roiling, rolling, rolling
This pain I’m not controlin’
I don’t want consolin’
Bikeride
I think my legs are poppin’
I know I’ll soon be droppin’
Off the back of the pack I’ll slide
I hate to see my draft end.
I’m facin’ a nasty headwind
And I think I feel a stitch in my side
Roiling, rolling, rolling
The sun is hot and glowin’
I’ve got to keep a-goin’
Bikeride
My crank arms keep on turnin’
My legs keep on burnin’
Let’s roll through this pretty countryside
I’d better drink some water
It’s getting much, much hotter
I might even take some cyanide
Do him in, drop a friend
Regroup, do it again
Push the gas, drop his ass
Bikeride
Stoplight. On your right.
You’re fine. Hold your line.
Pothole. Let it roll.
Bikeride
Legs burn. Left turn.
In a funk. I smell a skunk.
Another hill. A road-kill.Bikeride
Do him in, drop a friend
Regroup, do it again
Push the gas, drop his ass
Bikeride
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Rolling, rolling, rolling
Bikeride

Great footage on Dad's (Ken Har's) Memorial Ride. You guys ROCK!!! As I mentioned on Saturday, he talked about you frequently and all the great times he had riding with you. Thanks for keeping his memory alive and for bringing such good times into his life and ours. I can see why he liked riding with you. I look forward to seeing everyone again next year out at Dad's farm for the cook-out, stories, and fun!!
Tar Wheels for the Tar Heels - gotta love it!
What is a Nash Rambler ? Is that good ? LOL!!
Bike ride - rawhide - love it and hats off to a great tribute to a great mate for all you guys. Nice to know how good and tight you guys and gals are Micky.
Mic, how come you don't put cards in your spokes? you could shake 'em loose and aggravate everybody else...
A worthy ride, keep churning. 50
Micky Dee, Oh thank you for such beautiful pictures and narrative. Being a cyclist myself I transformed to the great feeling a tour like the Tarwheels Ken Har Memorial Bike Ride offers, the wind in your face, the scent of nature in bloom and oh the grass, no doubt someone had a fresh yard or field, the burn to climb that big hill and the thrill flying down. Aw I must gear up and go...I love Love LOVE this tribute. Thanks and Peace. :)
Another fun ride. Frankie Laine was a great singer. I enjoyed seeing Robert Mitchum again.
keep em rolling rawhide
Wow and holy cow! I think raw hide says it all for me...man that's a lot of miles on a bike but great pics and wonderful trips down memory lane! or was that memory Laine?
Nothing like a hard worn out man ! ;)
LMAO !!! ;)
Messing around ! ;)
Loved that old video with the song Rawhide and all the assembled actors in that piece. Brought back many memories of early television days. And your videos along with the pictures surely show off the beautiful countryside in which you and the others were riding. Ken Har would be pleased! Up and beautiful!
