Micky's First Rap Song
69Rap On Bro!
You know I like the Rhymes.
It’s a sign of all the times.
When the rappers take the stages
It goes back through all the ages
Rapping’s cause for celebration
It’s not “Just My Imagination”
“I Aint Too Proud To Beg”
I long for my Temptations
“How I wish it would Rain”
Won’t cause nobody no pain
You know they rocked my world
Every time they sang “My Girl”
My “Papa Was A Rolling Stone”
Though that might be true
If your sound isn’t smooth
“I Can’t Get Next To You”
Spinners
The Spinners were winners
The O’Jays found the ways
Show me the Corsair faces
Let’s meet in “Smoky Places”
Let’s talk about Smoky and the Miracles
While we try get a bit lyrical
Please give me your ears
And let’s hear the Danleers
“One Summer Night”
Can make it just right.
Hey how about “Hey Paula”
It’s done by Paul and Paula
It’s hard to decide which ones are the best
How about “Sixteen Candles” with the Crests
I even like “Bread and Butter”
I like toast and jam
The New Beats are great
“But she’s eatin’ with another man”.
Platters
Send me some “Platters”
When nothing else matters
It’s not a big surprise
That “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”
Drifters
My girlfrend’s heavy and I can’t lift her
But I love her because she’s stuck on the Drifters.
“There Goes My Baby”
Will she “Save The Last Dance For Me”
Maybe she and I can just talk
Is she “Up On The Roof” or “Under The Boardwalk”
Eddie Floyd
Eddie Floyd makes it all good
When he tears up “Knock On Wood”
Otis Redding
“I’ve Been Loving You Too Long”
“Sittin’ On the Dock Of The Bay”
And I might “Try A Little Tenderness”
As Otis Redding comes our way
Fats Domino
I don’t know where to go
As “I’m Walkin” with Fats Domino
“You broke my heart
When you said we’d part”
“Ain’t That A Shame”
Maybe I’m to blame
Four Tops
Be aware, but don’t get me wrong
“I Can’t Help Myself” “It’s The Same Old Song”
"Sugar Pie Honey Bunch"
It’s because I really do care
I said “I Need Your Loving”
“Reach Out I’ll Be There”
When the Four Tops came my way
They had a song for every day
Percy Sledge
What memories I can dredge
Just listening to Percy Sledge
“When A Man Loves A Woman” it’s easy to see
How nice it can be if you “Stand By Me”
Who in the world can complain
When Aretha sings “Chain, Chain, Chain”
Did Gladys Knight make Stevie Wonder
Did Diana Ross make Marvin Gaye
You know the Supremes
Filled my nightly dreams
And what can one say
About my Brother Ray
James Brown
“Please, Please, Please” “I Feel Good”
With the King of Soul, James Brown
In a “Man’s Man’s Man’s World”
And he’s world renowned
I forgot so many as I’m getting old
Like Wilson Picket who was solid gold.
I drove my “Mustang Salley” In the “Midnight Hour”
Down “Funky Broadway” with my favorite flower.
Elton John
All of these artists I can call upon
Even a little Elton John
Cause “That’s Where We Meet
At The Club At The End Of The Street”
So the next time you’re smokin’ chronic
Put on a little Delphonics
When you’re having some music sessions
Get the right “Impressions”
Doo-wop, gospel, soul, and a little R&B
Can fill an empty hole and do it all for me
I hope I don’t sound rash,
But there’s no need to shake my dash
And make me say Dear God
I wish he’d get an IPod
Please stick it in his ear
So the rest of us can hear
Turn down that stereo
Quit using that word Ho!
Your message may be true
And I ain’t dissin’ you
But while I’m busy chillin’
I don’t want to hear about no killin’
There ain’t no need to spread
Everything that's in your head
Let’s treat each other right
As we listen to Rufus Wainwright
Let’s be kind to one another
Cause “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”
Peace out!

Could It Be I'm Falling In Love - The Spinners from their album "SPINNERS" in 1972
Verrrrry clever! and totally agree with you about no killin' . loved it Nell
Excellent! I'm getting so spoiled that I expect perfection from you and get it!!
Every time I read the song, I could hear it playing. This needs to be performed that way at the Grammy's. You need an agent.
I love the music you showcase in this rap, Micky. Rap on!
I always like your rhymes Micky! it's nice hearing them in a rap ;p thanks for sharing!

(What are ya telling ma on me for? I didn't do nuthin!!)
This was great, thanks for the unique trip down memory lane.
WOW!... this rapper wrapped them all up!!
Great rap!!It is ringing in my ears and need a tune.
Kick'n it ole skool!!! Gone are the days of songs of love, peace and happiness. We now suffer the vocal strains of hate and disrespect, visuals that are no more than soft porn. Gone is the dance music that made you just want to have fun, not kill somebody. Excellent hub my friend.
I had not seen this before and I love it - I always think rapping is poetry and since my son writes some and I've dabbled in a few poems - have to love it. Plus the artists - sigh - classic!
