I've always been a bit of a lady's man!
But it was time I settled down!
I met her innocently enough on a bicycle ride.
Something about her caught my eye.
I couldn't put my finger on it at first!
I would find my self gazing at her quite often!
She was very athletic and captain of her bowling team.
She was a Yoga instructor and taught stretch exercises in her spare time!
She was very concerned with diet and her weight!
She was very handy around the house and office!
She was often called upon to do various chores!
She loved animals!
She even loved to fish!
She loved the outdoors and hats!
She loved trying on hats!
She just loved hats!
She used to tickle me so!
She seemed a bit clumsy!
She was always having some wild adventure!
She had the cutest surprised look when I would catch her measuring her thighs.
She could be charming just putting out the cat!
I miss the way she brushed her hair!
I miss the way she took a bath!
Sometimes I would help her with some of the "hard to reach spots"!
She loved the Ferris Wheel and rode one every chance she got!
We had fun just hanging out!
She didn't cook. She said she preferred raw, fresh food! Fruit!
I was concerned that she ate too much cotton candy.
Her's was mostly a liquid diet. She often made "special smoothies".
She was always urging me to eat bananas!
She was a great dancer! She would try new partners all the time!
As women are often defined, she was a natural beauty.
She had a natural heaven sent scent!
She remained the same "shy little girl" as when we met!
She was fragile, with a child-like innocence.
Although- I believe she saw some action in the Navy!
She was always supporting our troops.
I never knew a more patriotic woman!
All of a sudden I was the luckiest man in the world!
She would have an occasional "aperitif", she would call it.
She liked a little Absinthe in my absence.
She developed a taste for Cognac.
I could see she was developing a drinking habit.
Nothing I said did any good!
I began to worry!
She drank anything!
And everything!
She refused to see the obvious!
She started hanging out with new friends.
She took an interest in the theater. She made new friends there.
I wasn't sure these were the friends she needed.
They seemed to be encouraging her to drink more.
She was spending more and more on booze and hats!
Her drinking and hats were becoming bazaar!
Doubt was eroding our love. I could no longer trust her!
I was being replaced by a bottle!
I began to wonder if size really did matter to her!
She was spending more and more time with her "girlfriends".
I felt that we were growing apart!
I had little in common with her "girl-friends"!
It was obvious that I could no longer please her!
I became green from jealousy! Or it may have been some bad pot!
I began to see her in a different light!
I followed her around!
She wasn't a health nut after all! Just a nut!
She hated animals!
She would get drunk and do crazy things with large birds!
She did horse around with this fellow though!
Finally- I had to turn -and walk away!
But it was hard being in the same town!
I hid out in Europe for a while. But the memory was too fresh!
I tried to drown my sorrows in the tides of Hawaii!
I even tried Cuba!
The woman I couldn't please was always on my mind!
All women seem to have a vacant vacuousness about them for me now!
But even here in Bali there seems to be a reminder of her everywhere!

Don't call me a liar ! OK ? LMAO !! ;)
I love the posters and the way you have strung together with a funny narrative. Almost had me sorry for you, you old rogue!
Love and peace
Tony
These are the cutest pictures, and i was feeling sorry for you, i thought it was your way of telling a true life event in your life. Hummm I liked the green from jealousy. You, without a doubt, are a master of disguise, that,s what makes your hubs so good.
cheers and God,s Speed
What a convincing way to tell a story! Loved the posters and the rest. Great hub, Micky
MD- these ladies of yours looked like a past sweetheart i knew. I loved her, even after too many trips to the pantry, even when her weight doubled. She was illiterate though because she proudly showed me her self made tatoo on her right arm which read 'Hells Angles' I loved her even when her smile resembled the keys of a piano- one black, one white etc. I only left her because her hub cap collection grew out of hand together with her weight lifting. But these pictures will always take me back to that brief summer years ago when she looked as beautiful as the ladies on this hub. Sigh!!
This is awesome, Micky! You should have known darkness lay ahead when she bought those hats. Hats are a harbinger of a terrible destiny! :)
So glad I stopped to see your hub, it is great and so are you...I am so sorry you ran so far, but one day you can come back home, she has let herself run down, so the hold on you will not be strong. Also, Micky Dee, I had accident in 2003, I hurt my spine and haven't left the house, because of you I purchased a bike, I going to put a basket on it for my dog, and then I can take it slow to ride about, and for several years now I haven't left the house I am sure this will change my life. Love you Micky Dee and all your awesome hubs. thumbs up
Life is a journey so you cannot hide from your past that is why i smiled when i came across this phrase...
I hid out in Europe for a while. But the memory was too fresh!
Awesome,funny and educative...
So sweet (you remember her) and a history of a woman's transformation, and the love that is there once, and the expectation, plus the changes in her.
Suddenly at times, we couldn't see others at the way we see them before, and I believe she really changed, hehe.
It is part of an everchanging part of us, the only permanent changes are the changes.
I like the images that goes with the story, well put and lots of work,
Thumbs up, beautiful hub, like me, hehe, Maita
Love your retro posters; funny post. 120 miles? I thought I was an exercise nut.
Thank you Micky, for a sensational poem, I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. Godspeed. creativeone59
mym my, Micky; your rides are becoming more painful with time.
I know what is on your mind,
It will not be easy
as them bones say to take it easy,
back of, slow down,
you do not look nice with that frown.
Micky, Micky, I see a transition
change that the winds bring in
made easy by your great disposition?
Life is exciting and you are charming
at times quite alarming
with that knack of disarming
keeping you smiling
while keeping others laughing, chuckling or giggling.
yes, a great disposition
to pass though a great transition. ~aloha~
PS: Did I say how much I loved this one, LOL and those panties, where ever did you find so many? I so love retro posters, these are out of this world. love yaz!
Beautiful, simple and all the pictures represent what you said. Vintage was also amazing and I found it through this hub. Good work, Micky. You are my inspiration. I never doubt about that.
Prasetio :-)
Annie get your gun did it for me Micky - this has to be best ode to women going Micky the old grandeur right through. A lesson on respect and perception too.
Hi Micky - They do n't make elastic like they use to - thank goodness.
The postcards of a past era are fascinating and you have put them to good use here. It is clever how you combine the words with the images - lots of work to put this together. I saw you had a hub on the front HubPages landing page this week - well done. You made me smile reading this.
This is such a fun and engaging read--and such a nice way to tell an intimate story like so!
Thanks, Micky!
Classic...
