66She'll Follow Me Anywhere! Even To Saxapahaw!
We Union Groove on out to Saxapahaw. Have a little music with your whine? There's a cue sheet at the very end. Almost!
Occasionally I use poetry to explain cycling or an aspect of cycling as history, technique, camaraderie, equipment, or just relationships.
I'll try to make them a little humorous. I do have a warped sense of humor though!
The poetry may not reflect truth, at least in a present tense but it will reflect a truth for someone at some time as all written word can.
Sometimes just a sentence can trigger a poem or essay. The "sentence of the day" was I'll follow you anywhere. Of course this is an absolute. And as you know "all absolutes are not!"

She said, "I'll follow you anywhere!
You seem so honest as well as fair!
You'll see that I will follow you!
I've seen the things that you can do!"
She said, "I'll follow you anywhere!"
(Unless, of course, you lose your hair!)
She said, "I'll love you til I die!"
(Or until I find another guy!)
I heard her say very loud and clear,
All the words I longed to hear.
Now the things I hear today,
Are all the words she didn't say.
"I'll be yours until the end of time!
Our stroll through life will be sublime!"
I loved the things I heard her say.
Until the day she rode away!
"We two are one! There is no doubt!"
(Until your charm or money wears out!)
"You have won my undying devotion!
I'm overwhelmed by this spell and potion!"
"I'll strive every day to love you more."
(Until that day I walk out that door!)
"You lead and I'll follow. You know the way!
I love you and believe in you!" (Today)
"We'll grow together, and together grow old!
Our love will be for generations to behold!
Each year I'll grow more fond of you!
It seems as a spell only voodoo can do!"
I never heard what she never said.
If I had, would I have had a clearer head?
She said, "I'll follow you anywhere!
Where could you ever go that I could ever care?"
I reminded her of what she had said,
And of the beautiful thoughts planted in my head.
She said, "Oh please! Be serious!
You speak as though you are delirious!"
"Now please pardon me as I condescend!
You knew all things must come to an end!"
She said, "I'll follow you anywhere!"
(Until you start getting in my hair!)
She said, "I'll follow you anywhere!"
(But not really, not if you really "go there"!)
She was very polite as she continued to say,
"Be well and prosper and have a good day!"
She then softly said, "Don't be sad. Please don't pout!
Just pack a few things, and get the #*!! out!"

They can put me behind them in so many ways!

That poem reminds me of that song, the last one on David Gates and Bread I did, hope you listened to it "Diary" you should if you haven't, it took all these years to really hear what it was saying and my husband is nuts about Chet and Knopfler together, of course I know Chet is gone now but they were all you needed when it came to guitar music. Hi, Micky. It is sweet at first, start made me giggle in the middle, and I reached the end by saying, "ouch!" :(
I said love is feeling, but Mr. Story Teller told me firmly, "NO! Love is ACTION!" And I must agree (which I really hate in doing that sometimes because it's mean he beat me again in this competition of thought) that he is right.
Love: it is not supposed to be only words, but better as the will and act to make those words come true. Too bad, not many people understand this.
