The Long Distance Man
67
Have you seen the long distance man?
He burns his bridges as fast as he can
What has he seen? Where has he been?
Is he always on the outside looking in?
He can’t look ahead for seeing the past.
He’s had a small part in a very large cast.
The parts he’s played on this life’s stage,
Is just a dot in a book, on a page.
He can’t find a way to heal his soul,
From the wounds and the gaping hole.
He steps off one stage and on to another.
He just longs to join his Father and Mother.
None of his roles are of his choosing.
He tries to eliminate all that’s confusing.
He doesn’t mind the cuts and bruising.
He doesn’t mind losing but how he is losing.
What will he seek? What will he find?
Only more windmills in his mind.
And yet his mind is just a sieve.
He’s certain there is nothing left to give.
The road is too long and trials continue.
He goes on not knowing what to pursue.
He’s in a race that will never be won.
Another mirage, is he just chasing the sun?
How many riders will he chase today?
Will he get dropped? Will the pack get away?
Will the wind be too strong, the hill too long?
Will he miscalculate and just be wrong?
Will his body simply give out and fail?
Will his lungs give up as he tries to inhale?
What part of this rider will finally break?
Is it another task too big to undertake?
He’s too weak and too old to win a race.
He’ll be too big a fool to even save face.
The horizon separates the sun from the sky.
He chases that line and doesn’t know why.
He falters and falls underneath his own load.
But he will not lie down by the side of the road.
He won’t bend. He breaks. He doesn’t give in.
Will the road ever end or just again begin?
God Bless the long distance man.
He burns his bridges as fast as he can.
He tries so hard to cut his losses,
He burns some bridges before he crosses.
What has he seen, and where has he been?
He’ll always be on the outside looking in.
He can’t be with others and he can’t be alone.
Before he’s here, he’s already gone.
The Blue Period
I went into a blue period recently. Actually, I think it's dark blue.
Most of the links below are a little on the dark blue side.
Think nothing of it. There will be a brighter day tomorrow.
Then it will turn black. Thanks! M:*D

This poetry is SO moving. The emotions are raw and real and so deep blue. I am touched and relate more than you may know. Blessings Dear MickyDee
I think this one was especially moving, Micky. Thank you for sharing and please don't stay too long on the dark side. You are a winner. love and peace, man x
this is so thought provoking and moving MICK< HUGS, But days will be brighter and the sun is shining and the man who rides the bike for long distance will shine, smile and spring will be back again and He can ride until summer till its winter once more, but the sun never fails to SHINE, Maita
They will be brighter day tomorrow indeed, Micky Dee. God bless you. ^_^
This is the coolest picture of you! Love the way your beard looks and especially your tatto's on your arms--too cool.
I actually loved this poem best. Why? It gives me a great glimpse inside you-your thoughts-your feelings and I understand--truly--I do. I love you-bridges are only burned if you see it that way--but for me--no one can burn a bridge on me--especially if I have love-unconditionally--because even if they try to burn it down to the ground--I will build it back with chewing gum-crazy glue and anything else I can get my hands on. Then I add a rope--throw it up to the heavens so that it is anchored real good and then I swing like Tarzan's Jane-so either way-the bridge is never burned, cause I will get to the otherside--no matter what!
Great poem Mickydee! Very awesome picture! Yes, God bless the long distance man! ;)
I'll paint a lighter shade of blue for you just so you'll see the bright sky again my friend :)
Good poem. I think these thoughts are in most people´s heads more than you might think.
Micky you must have guessed by now the more I want to say the right thing the more difficulty I have in finding the right words. So if I get it wrong hope you will not mind. Your poem was very well written. I saw it as a man who found the strength to get back on the road even when things were not easy - well to tell the truth it is the people who think they never wobble or falter who bring the biggest problems to this world. Hope that makes sense, thanks for visiting the snowdrops.
Great poem. I particularly appreciated this imagery:
"What will he seek? What will he find?
Only more windmills in his mind."
BTW, we all have dark blue periods. :>) Blessings & much encouragement to you.
Your writings leave me with great visions.. ty 4 sharing.
Micky Dee-
I have to admit ,this poem did bring a tear to my eye-remember that song 'The darkest hour is just before dawn'-Hope you see dawn soon.
God Bless
Great poetry, Micky, so moving...
Wow, I haven’t been around this neck of the web for a while and look what I’m missing! MD, you did a great job here - I like it a lot. It even sounds like some times I can relate to, probably all of us who are searching for truth. I personally believe Micky that people who diligently (I mean with great desire) search for truth (as your Profile suggests) will be inevitably satisfied enough to harness the windmills which we now struggle to master. Judging by your steadfast cycling regime, I suggest it may be just over the next hill, but if not quite - then soon enough, because you have the perseverance my friend. I am frankly impressed once again.
Michael, I am glad that you are still riding! I wish I am but I am not. I love your picture. Did you take it? how did you do that?
Wow! MickyDee - When you embrace the darkeness, you're on a mission. 100 miles and full speed ahead. A cleansing of the soul, like no other.
You must feel better after releasing so much of those pent up emotions. Having been this low, it's gotta be up from here.
Ride MickyDee, Ride!
Hugs,
Sage
Mick, another poem and your still pushing ahead one pedal at a time! I'm learning to read through and understand Thanks and Keep it spinning, Duztee
You are a very emotional complex person aren't you. We are all trying to find ourselves aren't we. I really identified with your poem. Keep up the great work.
Awesome poem! As a cyclist myself, I really enjoyed this! Keep up the great work!
Great poem Micky, thanks for sharing.
You are smothered with secret sauce? ahahhahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I love that! (are you really?) Stopped by to say hello...your stalker gurly...
Powerful Piece--feel free to come and peruse some of my work--Bless.
MD: Something tells me that you seem to work out your whole world...while cycling...I don't know where I get that from?
But...as awesome as every contemplation you put forth in every line of this poem is...is the power that with every revolution of those cycle wheels...you get closer to winning that race! Those windmills in your mind...are only in your mind....and you can race right by them any ol' time...Ha! (IMHO: of your abilities...me...I'd collapse and die if I tried to cycle up a hill...in my current shape!) Really,(really) enjoyed this poem...and I hope you raced right by the "Blues"...as well!
Wow Micky! This is really good! I was on the edge of my seat! Thanks for sharing this man.
Hey, just drop by here once more, and to comment on that nice image there, and to appreciate once more the content of this beautiful piece, Maita
